Shah Peerally is a well known attorney and civil activist, practicing immigration law and debt settlement inCalifornia. Shah Peerally Productions Inc. (SPP) was founded by Shah Peerally, with a goal to educate people about his experiences that can actually happen in real lfie.

Shah Peerally Production aims at supporting local talent while making people aware of social issues that are so much a part of our lives. In his years as an attorney and civil activist, Shah Peerally has seen many such stories of human rights violation of immigrants, battered spouses, and cases of fraud, etc which people face but are often not highlighted.  Through the help of his Production House, and the film called ‘Shattered Freedom’, Shah Peerally wants to help people realize that help is at hand. ‘Shattered Freedom’ is a story that any one will be able to relate to. The film is based on Shah’s personal real life stories, that he has witnessed in his career and life as an activist championing for people’s rights.

Mr. Peerally says that the inspiration for the film came from the fact that he wanted to tell people how they should be careful and also make them aware of what could happen to them if they are not careful enough.  He says that each year thousands of people suffer from domestic violence, much of this continues to happen because, most of the immigrants are yet unaware of theUSlaw that protects them under these circumstances.

Shattered Freedom is the story of one such immigrant, who came to the US with stars in her eyes and living the big “American Dream” with her husband. Instead, her dreams were shattered leading to an abusive relationship. Through the film, Shah Peerally wants to tell his audience that a person who is abused does not have to stay in a relation, just because of the fear of deportation. As such ‘Shattered Freedom“, is not only about a story of hardship but also about of the hope of living the American Dream and been offered opportunities that one did not know existed.

Written By Shah Peerally & Alima Kanumilli, directed by Manny Valencia, Renato Asuncion and Joe Barcelone, and music by Mahesh Mishra, ‘Shattered Freedom‘ is the story of a woman who has survived in the United States, despite the odds of an abusive relationship and how she had fought a tough battle keeping her faith and hope to seek justice. The film and its story also depicts the resourcesof the American legal system which can help such victims with their immigration needs. What makes this film different from other films on similar topics, is that Shah Peerally who is a well known attorney and civil activist, puts forth his legal experience here in order to give people a very practical and realistic( as opposed to reel) solution about what a person can actually do in such an adverse situation.

Starring Shah Peerally (as himself), Pavneet Saluja, Jimmy Sidhu, Jagruti Shah and Sameer Khera, ‘Shattered Freedom’ is produced By Shah Peerally Productions. Shah Peerally says that in the daily workings of a law firm, they are faced with abusive behavior, cases of violence, drug addiction, molestation, and under circumstances, felt that they were best equipped to educate society through a film, how they can protect themselves. The film covers common social issues, legal issues faced by immigrants, their fears and how they cope with them.

Apart from trying  to explain in legal terms, how several of the US immigration process works for VAWA petitions, visitor visas, marriage interviews, I-751 removal of conditionalresidence, ‘Shattered Freedom’ is a story that many people will be able to relate with. It is the tale of a young woman, who gets married to the man of her dreams, only to find that the man she trusted and loved has turned into a monster. The story is a hard hitting and in fact echoes the sentiments and fears of many of today’s abused women and their problems in a foreign land. In that “Shattered Freedom” portrays the help to such immigrants with  abusive situations and  guide them in their path to citizenship and live their “American Dream”.
