Co-written and produced by Shah Peerally, ‘Shattered Freedom’, is an episode from the series ‘The Immigration Lawyer’. This is a film that every immigrant should relate to. The film is a pure fiction inspired by Mr. Peerally’s and his law firm’s experiences, his struggle through life, the hardships he has seen in his career as a lawyer, the deceit and above all the hope of living the American Dream that survives amidst it all. It is about being offered the opportunities that one did not know existed, within the American society and American legal system.
Directed by Renato Asuncion, Joe Barcelone and Manny Valencia, the music is by Mahesh Mishra, Parminder Guri, Samir Date, Somaiya Dipalee, Geeta Madhuri and the choreography by Anna Attrey, ‘Shattered Freedom‘, is the story of a woman, Jasmine(Yasmine) who has survived tremendous odds and an abusive relationship. She comes to the United States with a dream and the story recounts how that dream is shattered bit by bit, but how she emerges in the end and what happens to her. The other story included in this movie is the story of Ahmad, a man fleeing Iraq and ultimately and facing the difficulties of coming to the United States. The movie showcases new local talents and has been produced entirely in the Bay Area California. Shattered Freedom is part of the series The Immigration Lawyer, a series which will cover different issues relating to immigration law including immigration interviews, the immigration court, asylum, student visas, H4 visa issues, human trafficking and other social issues.
