Various news stations have reported that approximately 800 students are going to get some form of relief. The truth is that we do not have any such figures regarding availability of relief to these students. A few of the scenarios have been granting of relief as well as denial under many circumstances. One of those reasons has been that you cannot change status when you are out of status. Some applications are approved but they have required consular processing to obtain a new visa to re-enter. This scenario remains a gamble because there is no guarantee that they will be allowed to enter. For the most part, they have stopped issuing notices to appear for removal (deportation) proceedings but we have heard a few stories of TVU students where they have been placed in removal proceedings.
