Important for those who received a Notice to Appear (NTA) – Call Immigration court on800 898 7180
Some TVU students received an NTA (Notice to Appear). Often the NTA does not have a date on the notice. At a later stage a master calendar hearing is usually assigned to you based on your A#(Alien number). It is important you attend this hearing because failure to attend will result into a deportation in abstentia. This means you will be ordered deported without a chance to present your case. Therefore you need to find the date when the master calendar hearing will take place.
Those are the few steps you need to take:
1. Call Immigration court on 800 898 7180 and put your A# on the automated system. This is a safe number because it does not request you to give any sensitive information on your case.
2. Have an attorney to go with you. In case you cannot get an attorney, let the judge know that you are looking for an attorney and to give you more time.
3. It is imperative you do not plead your case without an attorney.
